Tunisian authorities say greater than 50 migrants have drowned off the coast of Libya within the Mediterranean Sea.
Tunisia”s Defence Ministry mentioned the boat had sunk off Sfax, on Tunisia’s southeast coast whereas on its option to Europe.
Ministry spokesman Mohamed Zekri mentioned navy items had been despatched to look the water for these lacking.
Round 33 others had been rescued by staff from an offshore oil platform close to the North African nation.
Flavio Di Giacomo, a spokesperson for the Mediterranean coordination workplace of the Worldwide Organisation for Migration (IOM), mentioned that the survivors had been all from Bangladesh.
The boat had departed from Zwara in Libya on Sunday, Di Giacomo mentioned on Twitter.
An IOM spokesperson in Tunisia, Riadh Kadhi, mentioned the survivors had reported that the boat carried about 90 passengers when it left Libya.
Safa Msehli, an IOM consultant in Geneva, tweeted that groups from the United Nations migration company had been offering humanitarian help and shelter.
Libya is a frequent departure level for Europe-bound migrants making the harmful Mediterranean Sea crossing.
On Monday, the Tunisian navy rescued one other 113 migrants from Bangladesh, Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa as their boat was about to sink off the island of Djerba.
In the meantime, quite a few boats had been intercepted by the Libyan coastguard and brought again to Libya on Sunday night time.
